About Grinder Pump Gents
Grinder Pump Gents is a one-trade company: grinder pumps, sewage ejector pumps and residential lift stations in Baldwin and Mobile counties, Alabama. It is owned and run by Brandon Byrd, a licensed Alabama master plumber.

Grinder Pump Gents is the pump service from Streamlined Plumbing.

Brandon has spent more than a decade in plumbing. He started at a local shop and worked five years there, from apprentice to journeyman. He then spent four years with a national plumbing franchise's Charleston, South Carolina operation, where coastal construction, condominium buildings and high water tables were the daily work. He came back home to the Alabama Gulf Coast in 2024 and holds an Alabama master plumber certificate.
He has worked on grinder pumps for more than a decade. That experience matters when a flashing alarm could come down to the level control, the panel or the pump itself, and when the sewer utility decides who can replace it.

Otherwise known as The Dookie Dukes
The name is a manner of speaking. The crew is one man: Brandon Byrd, who does every job.
His Grace, the Duke of Dookie, is an engraving. He holds no plumbing certificate and will not be at your pump.

Why a company that only does pumps
A grinder station is a pump, a tank, a level control, a check valve, a panel and a pressure line, and every brand arranges them differently. E-One builds a progressing cavity pump with pressure-switch level sensing and a removable core. Keen builds a progressing cavity pump with three floats and a seal leak probe. Liberty, Zoeller, Myers and Barnes build centrifugal grinders with their own float logic.
The utilities add another layer. BCSS requires progressing cavity pumps and, as of January 1, 2026, installs new ones itself. North Baldwin Utilities and Loxley want 7 gallons a minute against 185 feet of head. Gulf Shores and Orange Beach want 2 horsepower, 10 gallons a minute against 90 feet of head, and a 115 gallon tank. A general plumber meets a few of these a year. This company does nothing else, so those differences are the job rather than an interruption to it.
How a visit runs
The order is the same on every call.
- We ask which sewer utility you are on before anything else. On some systems the utility repairs or installs the pump, and you should not pay us for work the utility will do.
- We start with the panel, its power and indicators, then check the level controls and the pump as needed.
- We show you the part that failed and explain what it does, in plain words.
- We separate what you may safely do yourself (silence the alarm, cut water use, watch the light) from what the manufacturers reserve for a technician.
- If a repair will hold, we repair. If the utility rule or the pump's condition means replacement, we say so and explain who is allowed to do it.
Dirty jobs, done like a gentleman
The tagline is a promise about how the work is done: a clear explanation before any work starts, a tidy station when it is over, and no push to replace a pump that can be repaired. Sewage is the job. Manners are the standard.
Questions people ask
Is Brandon Byrd licensed in Alabama?
Yes. Brandon holds an Alabama Master Plumber certificate. The Alabama Plumbers and Gas Fitters Examining Board provides a public license lookup for individual credentials.
Do you work on commercial lift stations?
We focus on residential lift stations. For a shared or commercial station, send the equipment and property details first so Brandon can tell you where to call.
Do you also clear gravity sewer lines or pump septic tanks?
No. If your problem turns out to be a gravity line or a septic tank rather than a pump station, we will tell you that at the first visit and point you to the right trade rather than guess at it.
